Detailed Turn-Around Cleaning

The following is a detailed list of the duties that our housekeeper performs in our
Turn Around Cleaning:

First Thing:

  • Laundry strip each bed and remake each bed
  • Then in the Kitchen:
    • Clear all the clutter out of the kitchen
    • If there are any dishes, load the dishwasher or wash by hand.
    • Clean the inside and outside of the refrigerator, look for spills Take out the refrigerator shelves and drawers. Wash them down, being careful with glass shelves. Wipe down the entire inside of the refrigerator and freezer before replacing shelves and food. Wash the top and sides of the doors
    • Clean the inside and outside of the oven and stove, take the knobs, burners, burner covers off and wash down stovetop. Replace spill catchers. Wash top and sides, inside and outside of door
    • Unplug the toaster: Turn the toaster upside down to remove crumbs and wash down the sides
    • Wipe down and clean inside the microwave.
    • If the spills in the microwave are fossilized, try bringing a water-filled glass cup to boiling in the microwave. The steam should help loosen the gunk. If the microwave smells, boil lemon juice. Unplug all appliances first. Don't forget the turntable.
    • Empty the dishwasher and wash down the inside and outside of the dishwasher, and the sides of the door. If it has any odor, run it empty with vinegar and baking soda. Check out the food trap and remove any food, Get a toothbrush to get into the corners of the hinges in the door.
    • Wipe down and clean each kitchen drawer and cupboard ensuring utensils, hand mixers, blenders etc. are clean,
    • Clean the Cutlery holder, organize and ensure the flatware is clean .
    • Dust and clean the ceiling fan and light fixtures.
    **This may be a good time to check the laundry, switch from washer to dryer and put another load of linen in the washer

    Back to the kitchen:

  • Empty the dishwasher
  • Take everything out of the cupboard under the sink and wash the entire cupboard, including the garbage receptacles and the tops and inside and outside of the doors
  • Dust down the ceiling and corners of walls. Determine if the walls need washed in dirty spots. Spot wash, remembering air vents, doorknobs, doors, switch plates. Walls will likely need to be washed more often in this room than in others. Take the time to notice and clean the grease, grime, and spilled food from the walls.
  • Wash windowsills, vacuum baseboards and every corner, up and down
  • Wash the insides and outsides of the windows.
  • Clean out kitchen cabinets.
  • Match lids and bowls. Reorganize and wash down the insides and outsides of cabinets.
  • Dust and clean all art and photographs along the wall. Be careful when cleaning framed art and photographs. Never spray cleanser or water onto the frame. The liquid can seep behind the glass and damage the pictures. Instead lightly wet a clean cloth to wipe the frame and glass.
  • Wash down the countertops in the kitchen. Don't forget the backsplashes.
  • Wash down the sink, scrub the plugs and drain openings
  • Sweep and mop the floors, after baseboards, edging and corners have been done
  • Time: 2 hours

    **This may be a good time to empty the dryer and put a load of towels in.

  • Make the beds with the clean linen
  • Time: 15 minutes

    Bathroom:

  • Clean the toilet, inside and out with Vim and Vinegar. Wash around the base of the toilet, around the floor of the toilet, and this is a good time to wash around the baseboards around the toilet. Wash down the walls.
  • Tub - ditto
  • Vacuum
  • Vacuum the baseboards and the corners
  • Wipe the upper woodwork, shelves and towel hooks
  • Wash the baseboards around the whole bathroom, including in and under the tub and all the corners
  • Wash the window sill and the window, inside and out
  • Wash down the furniture, including the legs and feet of tubs
  • Clean out the sink, around the drains and taps, shine the taps
  • Empty and wash out the garbage can
  • Wash around the mirror, check inside and wash down shelves
  • Shine the mirror
  • Make sure there is toilet paper out and load up cupboard from supply
  • Wash the floor, make sure there are no hairs left behind………
  • Time: 30 minutes

    • Change the laundry and finish making the beds
    Time: 15 minutes

    Bedrooms:

  • Vacuum the woodwork, including baseboards, edges, up and down and in all the corners
  • Wash down the window ledge
  • Wash the furniture, including the legs and feet and any shelving
  • Wash down all the shelving in the closets
  • Wash the inside of the windows
  • Vacuum the floors, including under the beds and inside the closets
  • Mop the floor, including under the bed and inside the closets
  • Check the drawers and wipe them out
  • Double check for any cobwebs hiding.
  • Spot wash, remembering air vents, doorknobs, doors, switch plates and walls
  • Time: 1/2 hour for 2 bedrooms

    Living and Dining Room:

  • Vacuum windowsills, baseboards and every corner, up and down
  • Wash windowsills
  • Vacuum and wash baseboards and every corner, up and down
  • Wash the insides and outsides of the windows.
  • Clean around Fireplace
  • Set new fire with kindling and small wood
  • Fill fireplace bin with firewood
  • Wipe and wash all ledges, including fireplace mantle
  • Dust and clean all art and photographs along the wall.
  • Vacuum and mop the floors, after the baseboards, edging and corners have been done
  • Spot wash, remembering air vents, doorknobs, doors, switch plates and walls
  • Time: 1 hour

    Porches:

  • Wipe down all furniture including tables and chairs
  • Fill the fireplace bin with wood
  • Sweep the leaves
  • Check the plants for moisture
  • Vacuum the corners and windowsills, keep a close lookout for cobwebs
  • Vacuum and wash the doorsill and all around the doors and windows
  • Clean the BBQ
  • Time: ˝ hour
