Welcome to Dowry House, Tantramar Cottage and Seagates

    1)
    Septic Field: Both cottages have old septic fields which have been upgraded and maintained but are very, very delicate. Please do not flush ANYTHING other than what comes naturally and the biodegradable toilet paper that is provided. Do not flush food, sanitary napkins, tampons, tissue, hair, Q-tips or any other incidental garbage down the toilet.

    Maximum Number of Guests: Tantramar is 6, Dowry is 4 and Seagates is 6 people, including children. We understand families love to holiday together! We know that once people have rented a house they feel they can invite other families to join them for a few nights. With respect to our neighbors and because of the aforementioned Septic Field, the maximum number of guests must be adhered to. Please feel free to book the other cottage or other accommodation for your friends.

    Garbage and Recycling: Please check outside for the bins labeled for recycling. Please wash everything out before placing in the containers. You can leave the lids off while you are there, but please, close the lids before you check out. For regular garbage, there are animal-proof garbage cans outside. Please ensure you close them tightly! The recycling is picked up when there are no guests. The garbage pick up day is Thursday.

    Pets: Dogs are not allowed at Seagates, but they are allowed at Tantramar and Dowry House. We welcome pets that are looked after properly and are not left to bark. It is the guest's responsibility to vacuum the entire house and furniture before checking out as some pet hair can create an hour or more of intense vacuuming. Vesuvius Beach has a no-dog bylaw from June 15 - Sept 15

    Respect our Neighbors: Please be aware that conversation tends to carry over water. Please keep the noise level down past 11:00pm

    Smoking: Smoking is allowed outdoors. The cottages are over 100 years old and therefore, we ask you take extra care disposing of any burning material.

    Water: We ask our guests to conserve water as much as possible. Take shorter showers, turn off the taps while brushing your teeth, only use the washing machine if necessary, make sure the dishwasher is full before you turn it on.

    The Mandatory Cleaning Fee: We have separated the cleaning fee from the nightly rental. The website has the reasons why and a detailed cleaning list of what the fee includes. Click here to read more about our Cleaning Fee Policy Please ensure you leave the kitchen clean. You are very welcome to use the cloth tablecloths and napkins provided. If you do, please wash and refold, as sometimes this isn't possible in our turn-around time.

    Cleaning Products: As mentioned, we are on a septic system. We use biodegradable cleaning products which are provided. The washing machine in Tantramar requires ONLY 1 tablespoon of laundry soap.

    Check in time is 4:00pm, check out time is 11:00am. Please make sure you have completely checked out before 11:00am and that you do not arrive until after 4:00pm. We need this full 5 hours to accomplish the detailed cleaning that takes place in between customers.
